“Generation Mowgli” is the largest charitable Art project in Russia
It is the quintessence of the main ideas of Khabensky’s Foundation “Operenie” – children doing art while helping a charity organization.
Over the years, the play has included more than 500 children from 4 cities. There have been 36 performances, attracting almost 40000 viewers.
All the earnings from the plays are directed to the Foundation for children with malignant brain tumors.
“Generation Mowgli” is a deep and subtle performance, full of great music and sophisticated choreography. The performance at the crossroads of Art and Charity was the first such a project in Russia.
The performance is created from scratch every half a year – in a new city, with new children and celebrities. This is why every performance is unique, as new artists bring new emotions and character to their act.
“Generation Mowgli” is a musical based on the novel by R. Kipling. The story runs about teenagers finding themselves in the modern jungle of a Big City.
The main hero (the boy Mowgli from a privileged family) runs away from home to the outskirts of Big City, to look for his own Truth. He meets street people, who base their lives on freedom, sun, wind, snow and rain. They live in the world of children’s games. Going through a number of challenges with his new friends, Mowgli learns his Truth – Love, and comes back home, to his family.
Performance “Generation Mowgli” is unique not only as a play, but also due to its preparatory part. Every half a year it is created from scratch - in a new city with new artists. The stage holds professional artists, Russian celebrities and up to 100 children from the studio, all working together.
So every half a year project is “rebooted”. The whole troupe changes, involving children from a new city and new celebrities for the adult parts. This makes the play special each season, adding a different character as the actors change.
